Yesterday we met
littlebeelex,
berms and
torontoangel at Galleria Mall in Buffalo. It was great to see them, especially
littlebeelex and
berms whom I haven't seen in a long time. We bought more lotion from Bath and Body Works. It's having a sale until January 27th that features a lot of their discontinued scents. I now have 7 bottles of Tropical Passionfruit lotion. That should last a while. :P~ We also went to Motherhood Maternity so I could get some new clothes. I had started my maternity wardrobe at the end of January, but I only bought 2 skirts, some new shirts, a pair of leggings and some tights. Yesterday I bought 3 new pairs of dress pants and some more shirts. This in-between stage is no fun. Some of my pants still fit and some don't. I have a little bit of a belly, but not obviously so that you know I'm pregnant and not just letting myself go. My tummy has started to push out which makes my shirts too short now. On Friday I wore a shirt that used to fit fine, but now when I lift my arms, shows my tummy. I had shopping help from all parties on the shopping trip. Not sure what to make of that. I think the salespeople thought we were nuts. Why does one pregnant woman need 4 assistants? *grinz* I think I now have most of my winter/early spring wardrobe. Next month, probably late in the month, I will start shopping for summer. We leave for Florida at the end of February so I will need short sleeved shirts, shorts and a swimsuit. Yes, I am going to buy a swimsuit. This will be one of the only times in my life where it is perfectly excusable to not be thin when wearing a swimsuit and I plan to enjoy it! :) I would also like some spring/summer dresses since I suspect that when the weather gets nice, I will wear more dresses to school. I personally think that dresses look far more comfortable for pregnant women than do pants. They seem less restrictive. Plus maternity clothes have gotten more fashion forward. The maternity sweater I wore yesterday was not recognizable as a maternity sweater. I notice that I tend to buy more of those rather than those tent-like shirts that I've seen others wear. In addition, I am not ready to tell my students yet. Since I work more closely with my students than do most secondary teachers because I work with special education, I would probably get a lot of questions from parents regarding how this will affect their offspring (with the possible exception of June, it shouldn't affect most of them at all). I'm actually waiting to see how long it takes my students to notice. One of my coworkers said it took her students 8 months to realize she was pregnant!
For my lady friends, maternity clothes are now designed similarly to regular fashion with the exception that some of the cuts are more generous. The armholes are a little bit bigger for easier movement. The thighs of pants are a little bit wider so they don't cling so much. They are a little more generous across the chest. I think that's why I didn't mind switching so much. They are way more comfortable. Those of you who have not been pregnant or had children yet, be glad you were born into the era you were. With the exception of cost, it's actually fun to shop for a whole new wardrobe and not feel too guilty!
