26 Movies
I store a big part of my DVD collection in some lidded plastic boxes I found once upon a time, and 26 DVDs fit into each box. After rearranging my DVD collection during my day off on the 4th of July, I started thinking the other night, as I lay in bed not sleeping, about which 26 DVDs from my collection I'd keep if I could have only one of those boxes full. And so, here's my alphabetical list (with year of release for films with multiple versions) of the DVDs I'd keep:
1. Airplane!
2. The Andromeda Strain
3. Casablanca
4. Death Race 2000
5. Dr. Strangelove
6. Dune (1984)
7. Fahrenheit 451
8. Fantastic Voyage
9. High Noon (1952)
10. The Howling
11. Ice Station Zebra
12. The Lion King
13. The Maltese Falcon (1941)
14. MASH
15. 1984 (1984)
16. On the Beach (1959)
17. The Quiet Earth
18. Robin Hood (Disney, 1973)
19. The Shawshank Redemption
20. Soylent Green
21. Star Trek: First Contact
22. The Time Machine (1960)
23. The War of the Worlds (1953)
24. Watership Down
25. Westworld
26. Wolfen
Of course, I hope I never really have to make the cut to just 26, because there are lots of other movies that I really like. Maybe I need to make a list for a second box sometime *grin*.
Better yet, at some point I should make a list of the 26 books I'd keep, because you don't need any electrically powered devices with which to read a book ;-)
