It was amazing how my day went from utterly hectic to happywarmcalm. Strawberryfest had my biking over to Sal's at 9am to get ready for a day of festival goers who really, really want pizza. I was stuck inside by the ovens heating slices for most of the morning, hot hot hot. Also angry. Every employee was working, of course, with an addition of employees that have quit/left who were asked to come in since we really need that many people. The heat and the rush made the kitchen one angry place, so when one of the girls in the tent outside wanted to take a break I jumped out to take her place and... conveniently stayed out there even when she came back. GG self. We were only doing slices during the festival, no whole pizzas or even fountain drinks (we sold cans outside, but we were too busy to pour drinks). My parents brought me a strawberry slushie from one of the booths around 2:30, so I got my first sit down then. Boy was supposed to come in around 3, so I was eyeing the crowd hopefully.
Then the storm clouds rolled in. The wind picked up so fast that many festival tents were blown right over, the only reason ours didn't was that I quick grabbed the frame and others came to help, customers and workers. Strawberryfest last year apparently had half a million visitors, to give you an idea of the crowds that were suddenly rushing off the streets and into buildings. Buildings like our restaurant, which was packed in less than 3 seconds. I stood outside and held down the tents, the pizzas outside were getting poured on. At one point I ran out and got completely soaked helping the St. Mary's tent fold up, which was refreshing actually.
When it eventually quieted down and people started coming out of buildings, policemen in raincoats informed everyone via yelling that a much bigger storm was coming in about 10 minutes, so we packed everything up quickly, gave out some free wet pizza slices, and headed inside. I stood out the rainstorm in the crowded restaurant, tidying things so no one would make me deal with anymore customers. I was going to get some root beer from the basement when Boy tapped me on the shoulder. sdkfsldkf so I hugged him, got rootbeer, asked my manager if I could head out ♥ He said sure since there were so many people working inside it was crowded. We walked to my house, ate some foods, then headed to Mike's for GTA4 and Rock Band. Partay.
Sunday I got to attend the festival without working, and it was much better. I got delicious fried soba noodles, strawberry pie with ice cream, and a gigantic bag of kettle corn. We met up with Kaitlin, Marlo, and Adam, and even Tom eventually.
Aubrey, Leslie, and Casey met up with us briefly while we were feeding the ducks popcorn and Aubrey snapped these shots. It's kind of creepy if you flip between them.
I had to work at 5, so I headed over there but was cut after like 45 minutes. I met back up with Boy, Kait, and Tom at Kaitlin's house, and we played various games, went to Taco Bell, and had goodtimes. Marlo came after work I think? We started Persona 3 one night, but I don't recall. There was lots of Persona 3 this week.
Other highlights were Summerfest on July 2nd, where we saw Dieselboy and a Crystal Method set. It was fun showing Boy around downtown Milwaukee, art musuem and such, even though it was alternately sweltering hot or raining. On the 3rd we grabbed Kait and went on an adventure to the Beach, eating cool mint oreoes and margarita mix. Not together.
The fourth of July went to the parade, then to lunch with my grandparents, then we sat and watched Blazing Saddles until it was time to walk to Kaitlin's house to see the fireworks. We found sparklers and fire crackers in my garage and had a blast, especially when Marlo showed up because she got off early from KFC.
The last one was taken right before the balloon exploded due to sparkler.
The 5th of July we went out to Tomaso's for lunch, then walked downtown to get caramel apples and play on the swings. Then Boy had to go home, and I had to go to work. Baww.
