Disclaimer: The only thing I own is myself. Oh and the stupid plot bunny that popped into my head with the damn earworm. Oh thanks to
erinm_4600 who writes wonderful fic that inspired me to actually sit down and write something for once instead of it swirling around my head.
In the comforting silence of a small library in Finaqua, fire crackling in the grate as flurries of snow pressed against the windowpanes, DG sat curled up on an overly stuffed emerald green couch in a nest of pencils, chalks, papers and her blue leather bound sketchbook. Cain sat on a matching couch reading from a book on military history. Glitch fluttered about the room pale hands touching books and nic naks, occasionally adding things to his pockets as he muttered and argued with himself.
DG leaned forward scanning the basket of candy sent from the Confectioners Guild, shimmering emerald jelly beans, golden bugs, crystalline lollipops, the O.Z.'s version of chocolate wrapped in colourful papers. DG decided on the last piece of golden wrapped papay fruit toffee as her fingertips brushed against the gold foil the sweet was snatched away. "Hey that's mine!" DG glared up at Cain sitting on the opposite couch. "Give it back!"
"Nope." Cain replied mouth twitching as he unwrapped the toffee and popped it into his mouth. DG huffed and rolled her eyes as she picked out a ruby red lollipop and fought with the wrapper. Cain smirked, icy eyes glittering with amusement as he turned the page in his book.
"Ooh candy!" Glitch exclaimed beaming as he pounced on the pile of little golden bugs and scooped them up into his bulging pockets before spinning around coat flaring as he resumed roaming around the room arguing with Ambrose.
DG popped the candy in her mouth swirling her tongue around it, head tilted to the side and she decided the candy tasted of lemonade and cherry pie. She took the candy from her mouth with an audible pop smiling happily at it. "Sweet." She exclaimed as Cain rolled his eyes at her.
"It's candy it's meant to be sweet." Cain muttered and DG stuck her red stained tongue out at him and popped the sucker back in her mouth as she picked up her pencil and resumed sketching again.
They sat in companionable silence as DG idly played with the lollipop as her pencil slid across smooth white paper. She closed her eyes thinking absentmindedly rubbing the candy across her bottom lip staining it red. She could feel eyes on her and glanced up from under her lashes to find Cain's eyes on the red crystal candy as she rubbed it against her lip again.
"Oh." DG's eyes widened for a moment. Cain shifted his gaze back down to the book gripped tightly in his hands his head tilting down to hide the red tinge of his ears. "Oh." DG though again before a wicked grin flashed across her face, blue eyes sparkled with glee as she started humming quietly while pretending to sketch. Blue eyes flashing she looked up at Cain as she started singing.
"Hangin' round downtown By myself
And I had so much time
To sit and think
About myself
And then there she was
Like double cherry pie
Yeah there she was
Like disco superfly
I smell sex and
Candy here
Who's that lounging
In my chair
Who's that casting
Devious stares
In my direction
Mama this surely
Is a dream"
Cain tugged his hat lower down on his head, a slight flush colouring his cheeks as a pained expression flickered over his features. Cain muttered under his breath and stalked from the room. DG grinned triumphantly as the Tin Man’s back as he stalked out of the room.
"Not very subtle Doll." Ambrose remarked, his tone was droll but the grin he flashed was all Glitch before tossing a golden bug into his mouth. DG looked at Ambrose/Glitch with wide innocent eyes before falling into helpless giggles.
Author's note: Yeah I have no idea... I was never a bit fan of Marcy's Playground but the song 'Sex and Candy' popped in my head and the scene along with it and I could not get the damn thing to go away. So it is written now and perhaps my brain will move onto something else? *points* I'll be over there fangirling over Neal McDonough
