PREMISE

"Welcome to Meridian. It's spacious here, about... 45 square miles, if I remember correctly. You'll find there's plenty of lush vegetation, especially in the forest to the north. I wouldn't recommend going too far in, though. Folks tend to get lost, disoriented, turned around when they go in, and I hate seeing newcomers so disturbed. Meridian's also got a lovely beach to the south, with a sparkling ocean. ...Again, I wouldn't recommend going out too far, because as lovely as the ocean is, there are still sharks and the like out there, and I don't want anyone getting eaten.

Who am I, you ask? ...Not the mayor, I'm sorry to say. There haven't been mayors since... Well, there was a little... incident a while back. The city, as you've probably noticed, is not in the best of shape right now. The electric grid was completely destroyed, quite a few buildings leveled... It was horrible to live through - be thankful you weren't there for it. Meridian's not quite over it yet - but that doesn't answer your question, does it? Sorry, I tend to ramble sometimes. My name is Solas Greine, and I'm just trying to survive in this ruin. Call me Sola, please.

I know you're probably angry at me. You probably think that one of the other survivors or I brought you here - but that couldn't be further from the truth. Meridian is and always has been a city a tad too close to other worlds, and the incident just made things more... unstable. In other words, the city brought you here, not I. It's a bit hard to swallow, I know, but it's the truth. If it were otherwise, believe me, I would have sent you home by now.

I'm not sure how to do so, for the record. Sending you home, I mean. Perhaps Meridian will bring you home in its own time. I know this must be distressing, so I hope it does.

While you're here, though... I have a request to make of you. If you wish, could you perhaps help with the efforts to rebuild Meridian? Oh, it doesn't have to be anything as serious as creating high-level technology - in fact, I'd recommend against that one, we don't have the resources for it if, I remember correctly. No, it doesn't have to be that. It could just be something as simple as planting a few flowers, or a berry bush.

Really, it's not so bad here. Please try to enjoy your stay, all right? I'll be around if you need me."

Meridian is a panfandom, AU-friendly, community-based RP taking place in the abandoned city of Meridian. The city of Meridian is split into three levels of reality, with the city itself, the First Level, being split in half. Characters will be able to come and go freely between the first two levels, but will find that the split in the first level is not the same for everyone.

The city provides all that characters could need - as long as it doesn't involve technology - and the few remaining residents are eager to bring the new arrivals into their restoration efforts. However, they'll soon find that there's much more to Meridian than just merry attempts to bring the city back to its former glory. The levels are never restful for long, and the effects are inescapable. Yet none of the residents seem aware of this.

How events unfold will greatly depend on what actions characters take. Will they help the residents or seek enlightenment through the levels of reality? Will they pick a side?
