First Level East Side or Second Level

[Raf sits, staring at the arctic fox in front of him, which has managed to still be an arctic fox.]

See, you can't be real.

{Just too good to be believed?}

[Raf makes a very annoyed face.] Be serious, for a second.

{That's not really my purpose.}

You don't have a purpose, you're a hallucination.

{So hallucinate me to be a human, if it's ( Read more... )

No one's talking to you, you know.

[He just finds it weird that someone would be having half a conversation like this. It means he's either not all there, or can see something Michael can't, and either way he finds that intriguing enough to go investigate.]

I don't actually know that.

[Raf offers a charming smile, or tries. His eyes track Tiri, who's currently rubbing a paw against the ground.]

For instance, right now you are.

Ooh, smart-ass. [He rolls his eyes.]

Since you're clever enough to be making cracks like that, obviously you're at least half functioning. So. Who were you talking to?

{Tell him you were talking to your dead grandmother. Armchair psychologists love that.}

My imaginary friend.

[Tiri scoffs dismissively.]

Or near enough, though he'd insist that we're not friends.

{That's not the only problem with your description that I have.}

Imaginary friend? Stupid. [He resists the urge to roll his eyes again. Too much of that and he'll be dizzy by the end of this conversation.

But he does notice something in the air, like a pulse. If it is what he thinks it is, it'd be the first working bit of technology he's come across during his stay in the city.]

See, I don't really buy that. [Just small talk. His normally red eyes gleam gold as his brainwaves connect with the computer chip. Just going to rifle through this for a little bit and see if he can find something that comes in handy...]

[Raf miffs.] I don't agree with stupid as a modifier.

{Just what do you think you're doing?}

Mm?

[Oh hey, something's...talking to him? Interesting.]

Well hello. You sound different. You're the imaginary friend? Just keep being that for a bit, then; I'm checking stuff out.

[Tiri rolls his eyes.]

{That operation is not permitted. That means back the fuck off.}

[Raf's voice is calm, not quite dispassionate. Dangerous.]

What are you doing to my fox?

Cute. Make me.

[He seems to come out of a slight daze when Raf asks the question, and in response he just shrugs.]

I'm not doing anything. Tell your fox or whatever to calm the hell down.

Tiri does what he wants. And right now he wants you to stop what you're doing.

{I'll make Raf make you.}

I don't take orders from computer programs, sorry. [Well, yes he does. A lot. But that's beside the point.]

You control this guy's body? Nice.

Hallucination, not a computer program.

[Raf lashes out, then, genetically engineered reflexes putting force and speed as one hand grasps a shoulder and the other throws a punch at his chest. Tiri's tail flicks lazily.]

{We work in tandem.}

I highly doubt--

[He can't finish his thought before he's grabbed and punched at. He definitely feels that, even though his suit, and it feels like more than what a normal human should be capable of.]

[Raf releases him, still looking wary.]

{Going to stop meddling where you don't belong now? You could cause real damage.}

Hmph. Your fox is kind of an asshole.

[He cracks his neck as he straightens back up, the brainwave connection with the chip still going.]

I don't recommend you try that again, pooch.

Usually no one has to deal with him besides me. And it might be best for you if you don't.

{Well, I recommend you get away from delicate electronics you don't understand.}
