Leesons Learnd

OK so at first I figured that I would not end up using my LJ for much.  Little did I know that last night while thinking this I would have a dead phone and be unable to contact anyone.  That's what I get for thinking I guess :P

Yesterday was fine till about 6ish when I was getting ready to go out for a few, due to the heat I wanted to recharge the AC in my truck.  Got the stuff from the store and called Dad to help me out.  He said to get hot water to set the can in to help it flow evenly into the system, I heard boiling water.  This is where things got bad.  The can of freon was sitting in the water not flowing cause I had yet to finish hooking it up to the truck.  The water made the freon in the can try to vaporize cause that's what happens to liquids when they heat up.  and the can could no longer contain the pressure of more vapors. :)

BANG, the can pops the release vale that was built into the bottom (while sitting in 4 inches of boiling water) and I am like 1 foot from the pot of water.  Do you see where this is going?....Yea so now I have blisters on my forehead (I look a bit like a Salubri) as well as the bridge of my nose(so much for wearing my glasses anything soon).

I end up opening my eyes like 15 feet from my truck with the phone somewhere on the ground, dad is still on it btw.  I tell him I have to go run some cold water on my face and head inside, jumping into the bathtub I ran the water while still half dressed.  It was only upon getting out that I looked in the mirror and realized that I should probably go to the ER.  For once there was no one home, all my roomies were out as I was supposed to join them after I fix the AC in the truck.:)

After trying both numbers for Kaine, as Em had already lost hers earlier in the day I called the diner that they were at and asked somebody to come get me.  Called dad back and told him I was fine and going to the clinic(he worries to easily) and stood in front of the AC unit in the Apt while waiting for Em to get there so I could go get checked out.

Once we got to the ER I had to wait 2 hours before anybody finally gave me something for the pain (which by this time my system had started dealing with on it's own) and then the docs wanted all kinds of crazy things like staying overnight and checking my eyes and sinus, neither of which were having any problems.  I guess I got really lucky in that the only damage seems to be the skin on my face, and only a couple bad blisters at that.  most of the burns feel like a nasty sunburn.  The kind you get when at an amusement park and you forgot you sunscreen, all day.

So today I sit at home in the air to keep from sweating to much and wait for night so I can do something as it's like 95 in Michigan atm.  The lesson for today is when dealing with chemicals get really clear directions before you start!
