The Sugar Fast: Day 25 (Easy is an Understatement)

Apr 25, 2010 10:07

I feel kinda alienated here since I haven't posted in so long. Well I'll do my best to recap what Amilyn and I have gone through during the few weeks of absence.

The with-drawls get easier to handle each day we resist. They are still there and probably will be the entire contest. For me at least, my head is on the game set of 'this is temporary' and there for is hyped up for the end.... which is many months away still. But like I said, the head and body have begun to accept the sugarless routine of each day.

I have also begun to incorporate more veggies into my meals. One thing we both noticed a few weeks in was we both had gained a few extra pounds. We figure this to be caused by the extra carbs we were eating trying to compensate for the lack of sugar we couldn't have. I haven't weighed myself recently, but I'd like to think that with me doing much better at eating a more balanced diet and the one or two jogs a week is keeping me maintained or slowly shedding off the pounds.

Amilyn also has been the real hero in this game. She has gone out of her way to find sugar free recipes for some cookies and brownies. I have yet to try them all, butt he two I have tried really hit the spot for one who is in need of a sweet fix. One could say we're substituting the addiction, but this is a substitute that uses natural sweeteners like bananas, raisins and honey. I will try and post some of the recipes as I make them.

And a final note, we both are not invincible. I faltered Sunday the 11th of this month and Amilyn too a week after that. I tell you, giving in is the worst because your head works against you that much harder. For me my mind still is trying it's hardest to get me to give in since I already had once before and if it weren't for those sugar free recipes and sugar free jello and my once a day cereal I would probably have given back in again. But who knows. It is a continual battle that really is tough to fight.
