I totally fail at updating. Pretty much that's a given at this point.

Fandom

I saw Star Trek last night. I loved, loved, loved it. Major SQUEE here. I won't say anything about the movie plot, but it was excellent. If you haven't seen it yet, go right now and see it. Really. I wouldn't lie about this.

It was everything I hoped it would be. It was not perfect by any means, and there were a couple of things I didn't like. But, okay, I can live with them and hope JJ fixes them in the next one. The relationship possibilities are endless. You know the whole, infinite diversity in infinite combinations ... yeah. They all work.

I don't know about anyone else, but the last 2 episodes of NCIS, Legend 1 & 2, were disappointing. Boring even. The only interesting thing about it was the Tony-Ziva interaction. And Abby missing Tim. I thought Gibbs was out of character. I didn't like the way he behaved with Macy and her subordinates. It was unprofessional as far as I'm concerned. And at the end, when he kind of smiles at the camera, and it makes Macy's day. It was like she was still looking for his approval or something. Please.

I was actually caught up on Supernatural last week. But given how the season seems to be ending, I'm not going to watch the last couple of episodes of it until it's all done and I can be totally spoiled going in. Call me a chicken, but I'm not sure I can take where this is leading without knowing first. cluck cluck.

I've got two episodes of The Mentalist to watch. I still really like the show.

I signed up for the Snarry Games one last time. I have a story in mind already. It's going to be different from anything I've written before.

Fiction:

What I wrote this week: A few thousand words on the sequel to my 2007 Harlequin Challenge Matrimony with His Majesty. That's about it.

What I want to write: I've been thinking about a J2, Jensen is a Texas Ranger, Jared is a suspect type of story. I've got a lot of the back story worked out, but I never have time to write.

I'm going to need to start working on my Snarry Games story pretty soon, too.

I still have hope of doing a few more NCIS stories. I've got some little things that need to be polished up. Nothing major. It just didn't seem to happen.

And really, I have something like 20 WIPs in about 5 different fandoms that could all do to be finished. Yeah, sometime in the next year. Maybe.

What I want to read: There are a bunch of summaries on starting in June on the
spn_j2_bigbang that look very promising. I'm looking forward to that.

I wouldn't mind some really good Dean/Castiel, but I think I've read all there is at this point. And really, it's awful hard to get a happy ending out of that pairing. I hate it when it can't end well.

What I want to rec: I don't know that I haven't reced this before, but I just reread Open Mike at the Fremont by Audrarose, J2. Hurt/Comfort at it's finest. Excellent story. Jensen is recovering from a very serious accident and Jared is an artist.

Consequences of Falling by pandarus was excellent Dean/Castiel. It worked for a lot of reasons. I seriously enjoyed it.

You know, I forgot to mention that I rec'd Harry/Draco for
crack_broom in March.

Being insanely busy I only manged to rec 4 stories:

Vale Sanare by rurounihime

For the Public Good by Blamebrampton

Lush Life by Pir8fancier

Father of the Bride by Novembersnow

Other stuff:

On the Facebook front, a whole family who lived next door to me when I was a child is all on facebook and I've reconnected with them. How cool is that. I have to admit this was not expected.

The last few weeks, work has been epically busy. I feel like I've done nothing by run on my hamster wheel. I don't even think I got that much done. On the other hand, I know more about the guts of my system and how it all works together than I ever expected or wanted to know.

I'm going to Canada for a visit with
maaseru (and
fajrdrako, and
logospilgrim, and maybe
josanpq) in about 2 weeks. I'm so looking foward to the break.

And tomorrow, I am having people over to watch TV with me.
