I've been thinking about how the Snarry pairing started and what were the influential stories. The stories that made this pairing really work for people.
To me, it seems that when the first few books were published, no one was writing Harry/Snape, or not that much, anyway. Maybe because of the age difference, and that Harry was so young that you weren't going there. Maybe it was that Harry hated Snape so much and all we saw was a mean teacher. Albeit a mean teacher who saved Harry's life.
I came into the fandom and the pairing with OotP. By then, there were a lot of people already here. I think it changed for people with OotP when we had Harry on his knees in Snape's office. There was more to the hate than just hate. There was a connection between them. At least, that's my story.
I know that
Ptyx did a great post about the first Snarry stories and some of the other really early ones:
here. What I'm curious about which were the most influential stories for you out there.
I was totally sucked in by many of the early stories: like Preditrix's
The Love Song of Bastard and Idiot and Mink's
Till Break of Day series. As well as
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme by
femmequixotic and
Severus and the Crup by
josanpq, to name just a few of them.
It seemed like Snarry exploded with stories after after OotP. In those early days, I never felt like there weren't new stories to read.
So, my
flist, inquiring minds want to know. What got you into Snarry? What stories made you believe in it? Which ones do you think were or are most influential?
