...And I ramble about Canadian politics a bit.
It appears only a slim majority of my fellow countrymen think Bill C-10 is shenanigans. Unsurprisingly, the percentage of no votes is higher in BC. Hopefully this means they'll act right and pitch it.
"
The poll, conducted from June 10 to 12, found that 52 per cent of the 1,002 Canadians surveyed disagree with Bill C-10..."
But there's some politics going on! The Liberals have been abstaining from confidence motions all year, because they don't want an election at the moment. It's kind of weaksauce, but it's a tradition in minority times.
"
The Liberal Senate is "trying to kill" the Conservative government's controversial bill on film tax credits by delaying it until the fall when there may be a prorogation of Parliament or a general election, says Saskatchewan Conservative Senator David Tkachuk."
As far as I'm concerned, more power to them. Of course the Liberals don't want to force an election. Or maybe they know there isn't much use in amending the film tax item because it's just silly. Tkachuk seems to think it's a business issue, which would be fine if filmmaking in English Canada was a money-making venture -- but it isn't, so we're stuck with a subsidy system, dude.
Deal with THAT.
