If it wasn't for the Olympics, this week would be totally fired.
So, it was a four-day week this week and it was SO LONG OMG. Just... I was super-tired every day and the guys in the lab are being crankypants and I started my first graduate course that's after work hours and may end up being a lot of work for not much useful technique knowledge. I mean, biophotonics/biophysics is COOL, but it's not exactly my area and I don't know get if I can adapt anything to my purposes. *hands*
Good things: two free lunches this week, product show swag and a good session today learning how to align the electron microscope. Being allowed to mess with that thing is pretty interesting when you don't really know what you're doing (I have problems with the anode wobble and SAD aperture. Fail). :D
Ice dancing is kind of boring to me, idek. I mean I guess it's good to be able to compare so directly in the compulsory dance when you're a neophyte who can't see what the judges do but... meh. Even if we do have a team in podium distance.
Skeleton, on the other hand, is exciting! In the way that it is TOTALLY TERRIFYING. Sliding down an ice chute on a lunch tray head-first is gnarly enough, but they skid around so much! /m\
But won of our women is in 3rd right now. \canada/ I think we will medal in this. :D Go, Melissa!
ETA: I just LOL'd at the eagle on the one USian's helmet. It's... hee. Also, shiny gold German helmets are shiny.

Vanessa Crone has improved her composure, apparently, which is cool, I figured they just meant she didn't show the stress of the stake as much, but what the hell is meant by "told she had to look a little more like a woman"? Wear more makeup? Smile more constantly? Be less tall? WTAF.
