1. It is really, really rainy and I do not like that. No, I do not.
2. It doesn't seem right that I have to pay $6.80 to liberate my own birthday present from the post office.
3. But I got a card in the mail from
queue! It was pretty and ♥.
4. I saw
nos! She's still alive! And in danger of getting completely turned around whilst driving. She really needs a GPS. We should donate one so she doesn't end up lost in the Muskokas somewhere.
scarfe soundly beat me at Battleship, then sold a whack of NBX figurines to a friend of mine (who hung out for a while -- it was like my worlds colliding!) and then Nos and scarfe and I went to see a movie, because you can only party so hard on a Wednesday night.
Which leads to!
4.
That was a very amusing AU fanfiction. I gathered that the lesson we were to take away was, basically: do not disrespect Spock's mom.
Also, Uhura is so totally the boss of him (though I wish she'd had more to do than be the Spock-to-everyone-else translator, but I guess that's in her wheelhouse, eh?).
It was a good movie! Many funny moments, which definitely helped the typically-ridiculous premise. Star Trek makes NO SENSE you guys, but it's much more fun when it's not even trying to. We tried to sort out what kind of crazy temporal mechanics they were trying for. I think it only works if you're using the infinitely-branching and simultaneously-existing sort of concept, whereas
scarfe seemed to think that by changing the past the original timeline doesn't happen any more (which is SILLY, but I couldn't budge him on nonlinear time.) Notwithstanding that you can't travel time through black holes, since, you know, the crushing death. At least the movie didn't liken them to a vacuum. I mean, stick an equally massive black hole where the sun is and we'll still orbit it like anything else that massive, just, you know, in the dark. /nerd
Nos kept noting every time someone said something subtexty. I think she doesn't trust my slashgoggles or something.
5. There was also some amusing linky, via said scarfe:
My Favourite Movie, which is spoilery for ST, and, unrealted,
Transforminators, which is not spoileery for either of the movies concerned since it's made of trailers.
6. Okay. Time for perogies and slowly reading my way up from skip=100.
7. And oh, I'm a stupidhead who nearly forgot to add a happy birthday to
akamine_chan! I hope everything is super-awesome.
