The most wonderful time
You know, you guys, I really kind of hate Christmas shopping? I mean, I like Christmas itself (especially the food) and giving people presents, but the actual shopping...
See, I have ideas. They are good ideas! Sometimes nebulous ideas, but good ones. I am going to buy my people Presents and they will be Awesome and/or Amusing. But then the stores totally fail me. Do they produce the item(s) to help me complete my vision? No. Oh, sometimes they come close, but will this be enough? Will she find it as amusing as I do? What if I end up with Just This? Then I get discouraged and think 'really, I can do this on Saturday.' Except chances are the stores won't be much different, though.
It is HARD being a lazy person with occasional attacks of perfectionism, okay? (Or maybe a perfectionist with chronic laziness.)
And then even if I do find something good, it costs me money, and spending money makes Meres cranky.
... It occurs to me that I have a similar approach to grad school. *headdesk*
I will now eat ice cream and contemplate the evils of consumerism.
