I think I've been overexposed to Final Fantasy VII. While watching the Black Cat anime, I keep getting FFVII vibes.
Creed Diskenz (and his Katana of Doom) has to be Sephiroth's crazy sibling. Even dresses like him. He also kills Train Heartnet's (the protagonist) love interest, Saya, whose personality resembles Aerith's strongly. Then there are the members of Chronos Numbers who just scream "TURKS!" to me. Then there is the other protagonist, Sven, who angsts over how his late partner from his law enforcement days died protecting him from a hail of enemy gunfire. He decided he needed to help live his partner's life by...(nope, not inheriting his buster sword)...wearing the dead man's right eye which apparently has the power to look 5 minutes into the future.
Okay, so the last reference has shades of X and its eyeball obsession, but I'm definitely on FFVII overload.
