This is a reading entry. Or books.

First entry for 2012? Took me awhile.

Like last year, I decided to do a reading challenge of reading 35 books this year. However, I'm in a reading rut right now, meaning that I'm somewhat struggling to finish the books I have started. Most of it has to do with school assignments getting in the way, but I also don't have the sufficient energy to finish reading them in a short time. So I'm reducing the count to 10 instead and like always, I'll work my way from there.

And if anyone is intersted, I'm currently reading Global Woman edited by Barbara Ehrenreich and Arlie Russell Hochschild. Also I'm reading 1984 by George Orwell (whose Animal Farm is a favorite of mine).

That being said, it doesn't mean I can't do a challenge at all, no? I'm doing two, see below which ones

I've decided to read roughly around 3 books by POC authors or books that contain a major POC character. I think Global Woman counts, since it mostly centers on women in developing countries and globalization. Also, I have a stack of books that are POC centered that need to be read so I'm jumping aboard :D

I'm also doing A Year of Feminist Classics , although I won't do every book that is listed (list of books they're reading here.) I've read some of them already, so I won't be doing those this year. But of course, I'm going to read the ones I haven't read yet, like Whipping Girl (which I've heard positive reviews toward it). I'm tempted to break my book buying ban to buy some of these (and I need to break that anyways, since I need to start buying textbooks for Spring 2012 quarter).

I'll be keeping the entries for the challenges public for certain reasons. And of course, feel free to recommend any books for these challenges. Or to join in as well!
