Personality: Aladdin is the archetypal diamond in the rough. He won’t hesitate to steal, but he only ever takes what he needs to survive and, although he’ll lie just as willingly, he never does so maliciously. He’s used to thinking on his feet and surviving on his wits, after all. During his time on the street, lying to people and misleading people became second nature. He had to stay one jump ahead of the palace guards in order to avoid prison and / or starvation. He is still an honourable sort of person with a strong sense of justice. Aladdin won’t hesitate to jump to the aid of people who he perceives as needing his help, whether they’re attractive princesses in disguise or small children who are in the wrong place at the wrong time, and is fiercely loyal to the people he cares for.
He also has a number of insecurities that he tries to hide behind his street smart bravado. When he returned to Agrabah after meeting the Genie, he assumed that Jasmine would like him better if he pretended to be someone he wasn’t. As far as Aladdin was concerned, someone like her would never be interested in a street rat but might consider spending time with a prince. Although a lot of time has passed since then, and although he now knows that he has worth as Aladdin rather than as Prince Ali, his old feelings of being not quite good enough haven’t disappeared entirely.
Canon Background:
Yay, Wikipedia! AU Background: Aladdin received his invitation to the Academy before Jasmine did and, despite his reservations and despite not wanting to leave her behind, he eventually left in the hope of finding a way to stop the Black Mist. Accompanied by his friends - Abu, Iago and the Genie - and riding on his trusty flying carpet, Aladdin set off on a journey that would take much longer than he’d expected to complete.
On their way to the Academy, the group paused for a rest in a city on the edge of Agrabah’s territories. Their timing could have been better, because they landed in the middle of a raid by the infamous forty thieves. Aladdin found himself fighting against the King of Thieves himself and, although the raiders made away with a great deal of treasure, he stopped the king from successfully stealing the piece of treasure - a seemingly innocuous staff - that he’d been targeting. The grateful owner of the staff offered it Aladdin as a thank you. He declined, but not before discovering that the staff was, in fact, an oracle and that his long lost father was alive, trapped by the forty thieves.
The Disney Academy would have to wait. Leaving the Genie to help repair the damaged city, Aladdin followed the thieves back to their hidden lair. There, he was horrified to learn that his father, Cassim, wasn’t a prisoner in need of rescue but was, in fact, the King of Thieves. Instead of taking part in the daring rescue he’d expected, Aladdin was forced to take part in ‘the challenge’ as punishment for his trespassing. He fought and narrowly defeated another member of the gang, Sa’luk, and was warmly welcomed into the thieving family.
Cassim explained that he’d left his family in order to find a better life for all of them. He’d departed to search for the Hand of Midas, an item capable of turning everything it touched into solid gold, but, when he’d finally given up on his fruitless quest and returned to Agrabah, there had been no sign of his wife and son. Aladdin persuaded him to give family life a second try, encouraging him to come back to Agrabah and meet Jasmine. Cassim agreed, but, as they stopped to pick up the Genie, Aladdin’s father (aided and abetted by Iago) attempted to steal the oracle - the key to finding the Hand of Midas - once again.
They were captured by the city guards and, although Aladdin was heartbroken by the betrayal, he couldn’t leave his father rotting in a dungeon. He risked his own freedom to rescue Cassim and Iago and, once they were safe, insisted on returning to Jasmine and the Sultan in order to take responsibility for what he’d done.
Before he could make it back to Agrabah, Iago caught up with the group, bringing with him the news that Sa’luk had survived to turn the rest of the thieves against Cassim. Once more, Aladdin and his friends headed to Cassim’s rescue. They followed him to the Vanishing Isle, an island that was never found in the same place twice. According to the oracle, the Hand of Midas was stored inside.
By working together, Aladdin and Cassim managed to defeat Sa’luk and retrieve the Hand of Midas. Cassim, however, realised that his quest for the object had almost cost him the ultimate treasure - his son - and tossed it into the sea. As a wanted criminal, he couldn’t return to Agrabah with Aladdin, but, because of the bond they’d formed during their adventures, their third parting was a lot brighter than the others.
When Aladdin, Abu, the Genie and the carpet finally attempted to return to Agrabah - Iago having decided to stay with Cassim - to tell Jasmine about what happened, they discovered that the city had been evacuated due to the Black Mist. The princess had recently left the safety of the Middle Kingdom to take up her own place at the Academy. Feeling more than a little guilty for abandoning her and leaving the Genie behind to protect the people of Agrabah from the Mist, Aladdin and Abu hopped back on the magic carpet to complete the journey they’d started weeks before. This time, they managed to make it to the Academy.

Kissing and Hugging? Yes! His reaction will depend on who you are and how well he knows you but, generally, hugs are fine and kisses - if they're from Jasmine, at least - are even better.
Injuries? Sure! But I prefer to work out the details first.
Killing? Nope.
Mind Reading, Memory Wiping and Miscellaneous Magic? My answer will almost certainly be 'yes', but it would be nice if you checked first so we could work out the details.
