disappointed from expectations
"those who love their dream of a Christian community and not the community itself actually become destroyers" of the community and themselves really.
this thought was mentioned last night at the high school Bible study and i was humbled to hear it speaking directly to me and not just the high schoolers present.
i find this statement true in more than just the "christian community"... when i go into something expecting it to be a certain way... i normally will walk out disappointed. but if i go in knowing that God has great things planned and with ears and eyes ready to make the most of those opportunities, looking outward rather than inward... i will not be disappointed!
this relates directly to the job i just took... when i came i had all these expectations of what high school youth pastoring should look like, what my team should consist of, how my team members should act, how the leadership should run, etc... and i just set myself up for major disappointment. i was really challenged last night to come into work without expectations and let God blow me away... and wow! what a difference! :)
