i know we havent spoken in a long time, but basically, i have fallen madly in love with a soldier and im going to marry him soon. Months ago, when i was smoking pot all the time, i had a big realization when i was stoned- we're at war. like, really. But no one cares. Thats very upsetting. I live in Chicago, and yesterday in the Tribune, the Sox winning the world series was on the front page and the 2000th dead soldier headline was somewhere in the middle mix of the newspaper.
people are dying. we're at war. and no one can tell me why. why are we over there? honestly, what the hell did Iraq do to us? when are we going to get Osama Bin laden? it makes me so mad i can almost cry when i think about it. im ashamed to be a part of this generation, because no one my age cares, and if you do, no one will listen to it, they just want to shove it under the rug.
there are so many widows and orphans out there for no reason. i cannot imagine my life with John (my dude). and to think there there's hundreds of women out there whose husbands are dying for no reason or coming home without their legs or arms. it disgusts me. and it makes me so angry. im honestly sitting in my journalism class right now crying. it makes me so mad meredith
but really what can i do? no one will listen to me. i know they always tell us when we're growing up that one voice makes a difference, but realistically, no it doesnt. i cant go and talk to president bush and when i start talking to people about it, they're like "oh well. what can we do?" 2000 soldiers have died, but i read yesterday that about EIGHTY-NINE THOUSAND iraqi's have been killed by the US. what in fucks name did they do to us? and even if bush can tell me one thing they've done to us to give us any right to kill that many innocent people, since when do two wrongs make a right?
oh my god what has this world come to?
