This weekend echoinautumn taught me that you can grate butter (cold is good frozen is better) on a cheese grater, and the crust comes together very quickly that way.
You could make homemade applesauce. It's easy, requires nothing more than a pan and a paring knife. It is so much better than canned. You can sweeten to taste, with sugar or honey, add a little lemon juice if needed. You can serve it with breakfast, with lunch, even for dessert with a little heavy cream.
I have a simple crust recipe that doesn't require a food processor (I don't have one either--no room in my tiny kitchen). If you want, I'll look for it.

I made a vanilla-lemon pound cake that tasted like corn bread- not what I was going for. Baking is hard!
