I’m really glad to see posts about people’s positive experiences at Dashcon. I've never been to a con, but what you're describing sounds like what I'd hope to get out of one if I ever do go.
Most of the wank I’ve seen has been about the administrative issues, but it really, really sucks that some people are going after attendees.
I heard about that creepy guy who was going around harassing congoers with a camera and just... how pathetic. I didn’t believe the rumour about him peeing in the ballpit (someone would have noticed, eh?) but apparently he actually did pee all over one of the bathrooms and... well... what the hell, dude? A. That’s disgusting and pathetic on every level. B. You hate fangirls so you’re going to... ruin some poor janitor’s day in a way that those women will never even be aware of. Honestly, if that is the measure of the kind of person who’s repulsed by the kind of fun you have, you’re doing pretty well for yourself. God knows I don’t want the sort of guy who creeps on people and urinates everywhere to approve of my life choices.
The person I was discussing it with when the wank was starting to come out agreed that while what was going on with the management really sucked for the attendees, we were also kind of jealous, because when everything’s going to pot, you get to know the people around you better. So, while I have the utmost sympathy for the vendors and people who were taken advantage of, even just as someone observing the wank, I’ve been envious of the people who got to go and experience the atmosphere of it.
I haven't heard about that guy. That is...weird. I don't even know man. I'd imagine even the internet assholes must cringe in shame over him if that's true. Then again I wouldn't be surprised if he comes from some dumbass forum somewhere deep in the internet sewers who are sitting there chuckling to themselves because LOL PEE! hurhur durdur yukyuk pee is funny man. Uh huh.
Dawww lol. It was indeed an experience. I want to post pictures because I got some great cosplayers. Eeeh..should I? I would be afraid if something went viral and I ended up embarrassing the crap out of some innocent cosplayer.
I think he does come from the sewers, but I wouldn’t be surprised if even they’re cringing over him.
I would, especially if you’re doing it on LJ. People looking to make trouble may be stalking the tumblr dashcon tags right now, but that’ll die down soon, and stuff posted on personal LJs rarely hits the radar of those people.
