Land challenge pimping

Apr 24, 2010 21:49

Okay, I've been a bad friend. I haven't been commenting as much recently as I would like (I have multiple tabs open for future response, so if you get a response to an old post, that is why) and I haven't been posting. The reason? Land comms have eaten my brain. No, really. These suckers are crazy fun and addictive.

What is a land comm? )

I thought I hadn't seen you around much. Land comms are incredible. I had to resist the urge to join psychland, then leverageland and then caperland. I just can't take on any more comms, BSG or otherwise !:)
Have you seen caperland? Burn Notice, Leverage, White Collar comm. Probably the only way we'll see a Burn Notice challenge comm - as part of a multi comm (I thought a USA Network multi comm of Burn Notice, Psych, Monk, might have worked too).
So far I've resisted, partly because I can never get below 4 comms as it is, and partly because we've only just had season 2 of Burn Notice here (and Leverage S1) and the comms seem to have major spoilers.
I usually have a billion google chrome tabs open too, my to do list as it were - and about 95% are them are LJ and 90% of those are the land comms!

I'm still resisting psychland, but if I get team Burn Notice, I may have possibly signed up for caperland. (Nothing like a 6th land community!)

I understand about the spoilers. I was way behind on LotS (not as far as you, but back to Bound) until last night, and I was skipping fic entries and still getting spoiled. (Nothing major, but still.) And I would think getting spoiled would be more important for shows like Leverage and Burn Notice than the crack that is LotS.

So, did you like Leverage? I've never seen it, but I adore Burn Notice and like White Collar, so I am thinking of giving it a try as I may be in the land comm.

I don't have a ton of land comm tabs open because I usually just have one (the open challenges one) for each team. I have like 30-40 "real" LJ tabs open. (And that is after jotting down the URLs of the fanfics I wanted to read and emailing them to myself. There may have been like 100 of those. *headdesk*)

I loved "leverage" from episode one :) I haven't seen any "White Collar" yet, though it's about to premiere in the UK. But I've just started "Castle", as you know, plus "V" and it doesn't make me want to watch it desperately. Then again I came late to "Psych" and "Firely" etc so maybe later!

White Collar is a watchable show basically because of the chemistry of the leads. The plots are beyond thin, but the actors and their interactions are awesome. I can't truly recommend it, but I'll keep watching. I think I am going to try Leverage, though, especially as I've decided to be in caperland. (See edited post.) What can I say, I'm addicted to these suckers! *grin*

I take full responsibility for encouraging your addiction, lol. Let me know how caperland goes once it's up and running. The bigbangtheoryland I'm in is fairly laid back, so it's an easy one, but whedonland and legendland are often crazy-busy, so it would be nice to know which comms are the most intense before I sign up :)

[also, the comment below this, about promoting comms? No-one's forcing anyone to read the whole entry or click on it, are they? It's your journal, promote what you like :) - plus, as you said, making stuff for comms is a large part of my creative output too, so more landcomms = more fandomy goodness]

I will. I am a little concerned that there doesn't seem to be a decent number of people yet (possibly because there is already a Leverage land comm?) as people are what make these so fun, but we'll see.

I agree that legendland is crazy busy. 4 of my 6 are pretty busy, so the one that isn't (I'm not counting caperland yet) seems a little odd and off my radar to me! :D

Yeah, I still feel guilty, though. It was my first post in a month, and it was a promotional post. Then someone (different) just defriended me today. Way to make me feel great! *headdesk* I'm going to try to post more regularly (for the umpteen millionth time) so maybe that'll help. I do have icons and stuff to crosspost at least. And maybe I'll finally start some discussion posts on shows that I have always meant to do.

*trying to be optimistic*
