I'm glad that you liked the recaps that I've been doing for you. (Just think of the power you wield...I'm doing recaps pretty much just for you! *grin*) As I won't have much television to watch this summer, and grad school doesn't start up again until the fall, are there any other eps that you want recapped? I have all of the third season on tape and would be willing to rewatch and recap any of them for you.

As far as the icons go, creating the bases, what with manipulating pictures and the like, takes forever, but once I have a base, it doesn't take me that much longer to play with colors and filters to try different effects. That being said, I probably spent way more time than I should have making these icons. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself when school starts up again and my free time drops to nothing! I was so excited last week in the first contest, seeing my icons with the others. Actually, who am I trying to kid...I still got a thrill this week! The icons all came out really well this week from everyone. A fitting tribute to Martin/Danny with the angst from this week's finale.

Wow! Yup, I'd like to have more recaps in my WAT archive... I don't know which episodes I might choose, as I didn't actually watch them. A couple of the ones with lots of Danny in them would be really fine! Thank you.

I guess Icons, and above all wallpapers, will be my new creative hobby in my next future... and subjects like Danny and Martin are very inspiring, but, first, I HAVE TO GRADUATE, D*** **!

I would guess Penitence? It had a bit of a Danny focus. Otherwise I could just work my way backward (or forward if you'd rather) through the third season and see how far I get before real life rears its ugly head.

I haven't attempted any wallpapers yet (I'm starting small), but I'm having a lot of fun with (and am currently obsessed by) making icons. I was actually quite inspired by the Danny/Martin challenge, as that was a subject I had been thinking of attempting on my own. I stopped at 19, but I could have kept going. I might make some more, especially after that ending! Fortunately/Unfortunately, I don't have to worry about school this semester, so I have a decent amount of free time on my hands. (It also helps that one of my jobs is babysitting for different families, and after the kid/kids go to bed, I get paid to sit and make icons or other fun stuff!) Good luck on your schoolwork, and I'm interested in seeing what icons you produced for this challenge.

Penitence is all right! I remember from the screencaps that Danny got even stabbed (not actually, if I got it), so it is fine. I can't think of another specific episode, I'm afraid that he wasn't so much involved during season 3!

Congratulations for winning this week icontest! My icons were n. 11, n. 19, n. 26 and n. 31, I'll post them tomorrow, anyway.

Yeah, he didn't actually get stabbed, but I didn't know it at the time, so I was freaking out a bit when I originally watched it. Also, because it is set in a prison, it has subtle connections with Danny's brother and his past. I have found that Without a Trace has such a good handle on the characters that they are pretty good about those subtle references.

Thanks for the congrats. I like your "FBI Boys" (number 11) the best. It was so hard to choose which icons to vote for this week; they were all so good!

I noticed that you friended me, so I friended you back. I can't wait to see what other icons you come up with. (As there can never be too many WaT icons for my tastes; the show is too good, and the people are too pretty!)

So they didn't show it was not for real! Wow! Now I regret I watched screencaps! I'd kill to see Danny stabbed... not severely, of course!

Yeah, I friended you, I'm trying to understand how LJ works, and step by step I'm improving, but I still use photobucket to put my icons and pics.

I had fun to make those icons, and the one you mentioned has been the fastest one, it has less effects than the others, and that confirms my theory: the more complicated icons are the best ones in technique, but usually not in beauty. I think they're just too small to really show their potential.
Anyway, I foresee what my summer is going to be: icons, graphics, fanfics.....

They did, just not right away, and it was a tense few minutes of me yelling at the television screen before I found out he was okay.

I still don't understand LJ. Of course I have come so much farther than I had orginally thought I would. (I was just planning on having an account to write reviews of fanfic and it snowballed. *grin*) I use photobucket to host my pictures and then cut and past the < img > tags to bring them into this account.

I love simple looking icons, but that doesn't always mean the process is simple. Off the top of my head, the one I'm using for this post (which, for whatever reason, really strikes a chord in me) involved clone stamping out defects, seletively blurring and sharpening, making 3 layers of Samantha of varying effects and opacities to get the light the way I wanted, a layer of background that was partially erased over Samantha's face, and the addition of text and a border. All to produce a normal looking face. The other WaT one on this page (the Martin/Danny interrogation "I've got your back" one) involved manipulating two pictures so that Danny and Martin were close enough so that it looked like Martin was looking over Danny's shoulder, selectively blurring and sharpening so that they could be easily seen but not look fake, adding another layer of the two of them that I changed (lightened I think?) so that the lighting looked right, darkening the spot that the lights created on the top of Danny's head, adding a polygon to the bottom of the picture to create the slanty thing, and then adding and rotating a type layer. Once again, all to produce a "normal" looking picture. I find it rather sad that I am that much of a perfectionist to do that much work on a picture, but try to do it in such a way that no one even knows it has been worked on. I have been learning all of the icon stuff by trial and error as I go along, and I think that this (fortunately or unfortunately) is probably going to remain my style for awhile. Well, I appreciate it, even if no one else does, so I guess that is all that matters, right? I must say that I have actually been having a lot of fun experimenting with it all. I think that Photoshop was one of the best (or worst, if you look at it in terms of my productivity/procrastination) purchases I have made. *grin*

Anyway, I foresee what my summer is going to be: icons, graphics, fanfics.....
Have fun with it, and I am interested in seeing how it all comes out!

I know the process is not that simple! To make my 'love sight' blue one, I had to cut D/M pic in two and eventually put it together with them being closer b/c, like your 'I've got your back', that I adore, they were a little too far from each other, then I had to work on the window light in the background and painted every single cell in yellow with a lighting effect, of course I had to sharpen their faces a lot, then a claryfying effect, a blueish effect, the text, the frame... I was exausted! And I'd bet nobody would guess I made such a work!

I'm still at the beginning of the process of icon making, and I can't dedicate to it so much, so it happens sometimes that I bump into an effect by chance, like in my 'hot men, cool men', I love that color, but I can't remember how I got it! LOL!

I'm using both Photoshop and Paintshoppro, d/ling the pics back and forward, as I like some effect of the one and some of the other, and b/c I use some features of one of the two more easily than the other...

Today, waiting for my teacher at university, I reread your Offthetracks recap I had printed (for I knew I was going to wait a bit...). It was the first time that I have brought my obsession with me! *sigh*

Hee! If we keep going like this in this thread, the posts are going to get pretty darn skinny. *grin* Anyway...

Yeah, I'm still at the beginning of the whole icon-making thing myself. I have no idea what any of the effects mean, I just basically try them all and see what results I like. I save obsessively though, at basically every stage, so that later I can go back and see exactly what I did, in case I either have a question about it or want to replicate it. Of course, this also means that I have a huge picture file on my computer eating up hard drive space, but everyone has to make sacrifices, right?

I use Photoshop because I got a great deal on it through my University. What features are better on PSP?

I have a laptop, so I bring my obsession with me everywhere! (Don't tell my professor, but I spent the majority of my "Reference Services" class reading Gilmore Girls scripts to find quotes I liked and wanted to save. *grin*) I'm glad that you are getting such good use out of the recaps! It makes me feel like the time I took to write them was well worth it.

Me, too, but if I should work on another pic, I'd have to start it all over again!
I have to make an icon to remember which features I use in PaintShopPro, I know for sure that I cut the image with a square tool that is only in one of the two, I can add a frame by one of them, put the shining effects only by one, and so on. Next time I'll pay attention and tell you the details.
I found out the flashing effects are my favorites, and I also love acid colors, like in 70s old color pictures, (like many scenes in Cold case!).

I don't have a laptop, anyway I was out on my teacher's office door standing in the middle of a corridor reading the recap and occasionally talking with another waiting guy. When the Professor arrived, he leaned towards my sheet b/c he believed it was part of my thesis and I had to switch it from his view explaining it was something in English, nothing to do with it... *blush*

Hey, as I already said I don't know how LJ works... is there any other place in your or even my lj to go on with the talking? I realized this is not the right place!!
