So the audition went very well considering my voice is TIRED. This was
my third audition in the past 8 or 9 days and I can tell my voice has
had enough for a while. I was really worried that I'd end up squeaking
or cracking or something else ridiculously embarrassing... but that
didn't happen. The French was as good as it's ever been (which is
pretty darn good), The Crucifixion probably could have been better, but
it was still good- and it's not like the judges know I've sung it any
better before.. and that was the first time I'd performed Laurie's Song
and it went really well, too. I was really afraid that something would
go terribly wrong since it was 10:30 in the morning and my voice hasn't
been happy with me for the past few days.. but it was fine. And the
judges/professors/whatever were really nice. I'd met Dr. Lyle before
and seen Dr. Hay.. but they were very friendly.. I think they expected
me to ask a lot more questions than I did (I only asked one!) but
really.. everything I've wanted to know has been answered either by Mr.
Tom or Sarah... so when it came down to asking questions I couldn't
think of anything I didn't already know. But it was fine anyway.. and
then I met the dean of the School of Music and he was really nice,
too.. he's a voice person too so he got all excited when I told him I
wanted to perform opera and all.. And I met this girl who's pretty much
crazy about Converse and has already comitted to going there.. she
seems to be sorta a homebody.. which doesn't surprise me if she's that
into Converse.. not that I'm bashing it- it's a really good school..
but I've kinda noticed that the girls who are the most obsessed with it
are also scared to death of big schools, too. She was really nice
though. And... I didn't get to hang out with Will. His mom wouldn't let
him go anywhere bc he's gotta do college applications... disappointing,
but it's okay. I was tired by that point anyway and I didn't have the
first clue what there was to do in Spartanburg besides walk around the
mall.. which didn't seem like too much fun to me... since there's not a
lot in that mall.. and what do you do when you wanna go into a girl's
store with a guy? How awkward.. especially considering the VERY long
amount of time it's been since I've seen him..but he was really
apologetic.. and I told him not to worry about it and just to call me
if he was ever in Columbia and we'd hang out then... since I actually
know what there is to do in Columbia. One thing I will say.. his voice
is a lot deeper than it was 4 years ago..... :P (ha- gee I wonder
why?..)
So... the problem I had yesterday basically cleared itself up without
me doing a THING. And that surprised me, but I'm glad it worked out
that way. It's good to know things are capable of working themselves
out.. yet another YAY JESUS moment.. but yes. That's all that really
needs to be said on that topic.. hehe
And in a little while me and Catherine are kicking off our very LONG
Disney Movie Marathon.. we're watching The Little Mermaid and The Great
Mouse Detective... and I am SO excited. :D
All that said... I think I'm gonna go..
