Bum-ba-da-bum!! And we're back!

Spent the past week in Ireland. So much fun. It got off to a slightly rocky start, as we had to leave the flat at 4:00 am to get to the airport to catch our 7:00 flight. About 10 minutes into the trip to the airport, Allison realizes she doesn't have her passport. Oops. So back to the flat we go. While Allison is inside, the driver goes to turn the taxi around. He couldn't turn where he wanted to, so we had to go farther, and consequently, Allison thought Kristina and I had been abducted. Made it to the airport with no further incidents. Slept through the hour flight. Got to the hotel. Snuck me in, as you pay per person, and we're cheep. Slept some more, then hit the streets for St. Patrick's Day, Dublin style. It was insane, so many people.

Spent the next day in Dublin doing touristy stuff, like seeing the Book of Kells, which was incredible. All in all, a good day, till dinner. We went to this restaurant in the Temple Bar area, and the waiter was a complete ass. Allison wasn't very hungry, so all she wanted was a side order. When she goes to order, the waiter tells her, "This is a restaurant. You have to order a meal." When he comes back with our water, which is all we had ordered to drink, he goes "It's hard to live cheaply in Dublin." So Allison ends up not ordering anything, partly because she’s pissed, and partly because she’s not going to order something she doesn’t want. When she tells the waiter she doesn’t want anything, he tells her, “But there’s a small stew” totally trying to force something on her. To make matters worse, the food sucked. To top off a fabulous evening, when we went to pay Kristina discovered that her purse was missing. Turns out, the guy sitting behind her swiped it. So we had to see the Garda (Irish police). Luckily, there was no cash in it, just a credit card, a debit card, her driver’s licences, and unfortunately, her camera. But Kristina also thought that her passport was in there, so it looked like a late trip to the US Embassy was in store. Luckily, we went back to the hotel, and Kristina found it in her carry on. Drama, drama, drama.

Spent the next two and half days in Galway, which was fantastic. The city is so pretty. Got to meet a bunch of Allison’s friends from when she lived here. Did a bus trip to the Cliffs of Moher, which was incredible. The wind speeds that day were probably close to 70mph. They almost closed the cliffs. The wind made for a lot of fun. You could lean into it and it would totally hold you up. If any of you are ever in Ireland, GO TO THE CLIFFS!!! You’ll be happy you did.

Kristina left on Monday morning, we came home on Tuesday, worked on Wednesday. It never ends.

Two last things. 1) This appeared in the Plain Dealer. Don’t know who all got to see it.

2) If any one is looking to come over to the UK, I met a woman at work yesterday who is looking for an au pair. She use to live in California, and now lives about an hour from London. It’s a live in position, so if anyone wants her contact info, let me know

Oh! Started a new book I picked up while in Ireland. It's called "Why Do People Hate Amereica?" It looks at things that America has done since 9/11, like the War on Terror and the War in Iraq, and how these things have changed the world view of America. So far it's been interesting, and has given me a lot of food for thought. If anyone else has read it, let me know what you thought.
