An actual email:
Claire,
Can you make sure to give me back *client name* when your done with it.
Thanks!!
*boss*
Am I actually supposed to respect this woman? Seriously? Seriously? I'm supposed to listen to this?! Jesus Christ. I know I'm an intellectual snob (all hail the post-modern hegemony!), but come on. This shouldn't be asking too much. Simple sentence construction should not be difficult for a 30-some year old woman. It just shouldn't. Yet, as evidenced by the above email, it clearly is. The 'your' is what really made me giggle/cringe, but the whole sentence is just wrong. Wrong.
I hate stupid people. More than that, I hate having to take direction from stupid people. Ok, maybe not stupid (but possibly, in some instances); at the very least, far less educated than I. GRRRRRRRRRRR. I know, I know: there will always be people 'above' me who are less educated and such, but this is flat-out ridiculous. She's 30+ years old and doesn't know which forms of your/you're to use. That's just sad. Of course, I could go off on the whole apostrophes/possessives thing, not to mention commas and semi-colons, but I'll stop here.
stupid people,
