My Post on Autism....
Hello everyone.
I'm new here, and I have just recently discovered that my 1/2 brother and 1/2 sister, both severly autistic, were taken by the state. "Our" father is abusive, and he beat their mother. She filed against him, but later she recanted, and has since tried to kill herself. She is still in the hospital. The kids were taken and no one knows where or atleast no one is supposed to tell anyone especially the parents. As their next of kin, someone should have gotten in touch with me, but no one told the social worker there was a sister. Convienient. Anyways, apparently they have been placed in a facility. I am struggling to find out who their social worker is, but the people will not return my calls...I don't know what else to do. I have been advised to take "Non-Custodial Guardianship" of them, but no matter what they will have to be in a facility. I don't know if this is a forum for conscerns or what, but anything you could tell me would be appriciated...I'm about to turn 20 and I wasn't really expecting to have children...let alone children who have to live in an institution of some kind. I would be responsible for making decisions for them about their care and treatments...but I need more to go on than just the fact that they are Autistic...I dunno if this makes any sense...but there it is.
