[What] An infestation of an experimentation

The dark sapped at him as the Heartless drew in closer, like a wave of black. It was almost impossible to tell one from four, and the darkness was so strong around him that it made the keybearer dizzy. It filled his senses and he was practically intoxicated with it again, stumbling back. A Heartless took the moment of confusion to swipe an angry claw into his arm, spinning the teenager around, forcing him to stumble. The others pressed in closer at the chance to fell this one with such a strong heart, and Riku growled, regaining composure, and striking with enough fervor to drive them back again.

Ironic, how you're still so easy to fell with enough darkness around. Pathetic.

With a glare to no one in particular, Riku gripped the Heartless that injured him and stabbed it clean through, forcing the dark to come apart and fade into nothing. "I can't," he hissed. "I won't lose." But they pressed in closer, keeping him from moving much, blood running down his left arm. "Why are so many after ME?!"

Even Heartless can sense what lies within, other than someone's heart. They know that which you carry. Sea green eyes widened. Taking your heart away, I would be free to take what was left of you.

Hissing, he spun around with ease and shoved more back, a strike from Dawn so easy to force them back with seething rage, the light (even so small) too much for them.

"I can't keep them all back," he muttered. They came closer, and he faltered, eyes flickering angrily. "...If they get past me, they'll go after Sora and Kairi..."

Oh dear. And then they'll have their hearts taken too...

Something snapped deep within him, the very thought of losing Kairi to the dark again, watching Sora fade away into dancing lights. He couldn't handle that anymore. Not anymore. "No. No! I won't let that happen!" The dark broke free from him, and he yelled, letting it sweep across his form and into his hand, and he struck the Heartless, ripping them in twain, spilling their dark into ashes and removing them from existence.

Gold eyes flickering from underneath silver bangs, Riku continued on his path through them, destroying them all with ease, unaware that his clothes had changed with his eyes, but his body was still his own, even as it wielded a power that wasn't his.

Before she knew it, Kairi was lost in the whirling darkness- she was sure Mr. Shinra had ran off by now, but she was still in the area, whipping around as the darkness closed in on her.

If there was any time in her life that she could ever truely be called scared, it was now. The fear of her life.

Suddenly, she'd heard a scream, spinning on her feet to look from whence she came. Eyes widening, the girl raised her blade again, taking off in the direction.

She recognized that voice... she would anywhere.

"Riku!" Kairi yelled, slashing through Heartless and straining her eyes for a view through the darkness. "Riku, are you there?!"

It wasn't long before she saw him, cutting his way through the heartless in the same manner. She almost got to the silver-haired boy before she got cut off by a wave of heartless, getting knocked back slightly and almost losing her balance into the fray.

"Riku! Riku, are you there!?" She continued to call out as she fought, panting for breath by now. She was not cut out for this, and the Keyblade was heavy. But she was in a fight for life and death... there was no time to be tired now.
