He'd arranged the appointment just that morning, but by office closing Ienzo had been through the mill of the board's daily grind, and it was only the last check on his inbox which reminded him he was due at the quiet teashop in a few minutes. A zippy memo over the network to Lexaeus, should he return from the fields earlier than usual and wonder where his predictably habitual homebody of a flatmate had disappeared to, and then he'd hurried across the square to the cafe with china blue awnings ( ... )

L scratched the back of his head a little, despising his shoes. Honestly, he preferred to stay at home, speak from his laptop, so he could be without distractions and simply be able to concentrate. He had been working on a small project of his concerning the ShinRa corporation, and wondering just what Rufus was going to do about them, if he could. If not, the detective was dead-set on finding out what they were up to. Staying at home, sitting on his couch, browsing information with snacks handy...it made things easier ( ... )

Chai. It had been a long time since he'd taken spiced tea, and usually they had a habit of making it too honeyed sweet for his liking. But he didn't find L's request for sugar cubes too odd, seeing as the PPF head had gone through entire container of sweetener packets from the boardroom coffee station by the time their last meeting was through, and he couldn't recall L taking any more than just a cup of hot water at most.

"An enviable position." He mused with a wishful sigh and a yearning glance at his too-full briefcase. Ah, to work at home with just the network hookup, and spare the daily office dramas of seeing how many secretaries Xemnas could reject weekly, or how many time Rufus would spat with the man, or his father.

"You know, I've been trying to get them to operate paperless for months? But they're far too stuck in some of their old inefficiencies." Ienzo complained conversationally, staring at his reflection in the glass as he stirred his tea. "And you should have seen the mess of files when I started." he tsked softly ( ... )

He added two cubes of sugar automatically, then three more...then one, just in case, stirring the mixture together as he kept his black eyes on Ienzo's indigo one. The other always seemed to be far too knowledgeable for his age, and this, really, surprised him. He was...fourteen, was it? Fifteen? And yet he was a liaison for R&D, and supposedly a very influential person in the Board ( ... )
