Apparently, I needed sleep

I've come down with the crud that seems to be making the rounds in my hometown. A sore throat, chest and nasal congestion, a cough...all in all not fun. I've been setting the alarm on my cell phone in hopes of training myself to get up earlier because all next week I have to drag my butt out of bed to take care of my in-laws' dog.

It started Monday, when I noticed that my throat was a little scratchy, but it's also been ridiculously dry in the apartment so I chugged water and honey-lemon tea in hopes of soothing it.

No such luck.

On Tuesday I woke up and felt worse. Yesterday I spent pretty much all day sitting on the couch, reading and napping because I couldn't seem to keep my eyes open. Today I'm feeling better, that's only because I forced myself to ignore my alarm and slept until ten. I am feeling better, at the very least more rested, but my throat is still a little sore, my nose is still slightly congested and it feels like there's weight in my chest making it very easy to get winded just walking around the apartment.

Have I mentioned I hate being sick?

My husband has taken pity on me, because it's been almost a year since I've been sick (sick as in down with something vs. sick as in caused by nausea due to something I ate or didn't eat) and he's at least been good enough to help me find food that I can eat. Yesterday I had the leftover French toast bread pudding for dinner as it's relatively easy going down and was unlikely to upset my stomach (which it didn't). I think I'll make a salad for lunch today in hopes of getting some of those vitamins and whatnot that will help me fight off this stupid cold.

I suppose I should eat now. I slept so late I kind of missed breakfast...

real life, sleep, sick
