So, tonight on Independent Lens is the Ramones documentary End of a Century. http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/endofthecentury/ Followed by Joe Strummer Rocks Again, an 8-min doc. made shortly before he died. RIP.
AND soon they will premiere a new American Masters on my anti-hero and yours, James Dean. http://www.pbs.org/previews/american_masters_dean/ Seems with the 50th anniversary of his death coming up, he's all over the place. Soon there will be a 2-disc DVD set for both East of Eden and Rebel Without a Cause (finally!), plus a 3-disc Complete James Dean Collection. Which to buy, which to buy? I think I'm also getting a Jimmy Dean watch for graduation.
And uh, speaking of deans, I somehow made the National Dean's List. I'm still not entirely sure why or how, other than reasonably good grades, which are nothing to write home about. Maybe it was the straight-As last semester.
Time for interactive fun. You're creative people, and I'd like you to give me your best description of David Gedge's voice. While listening the other night to the Wedding Present, I tried once more to come up with a good one one, but the best I could do was Bert (of Bert and Ernie fame) after a bender. Or Bert during a Lost Weekend. I got nothin'. Impress me. Make me laugh. I'm counting on West Coast Justin and Aubrey, particularly.
