Hello, all! I hope you’ve had a good day so far!
Layouts don’t always turn out like we think, right? That’s true, for me at least. Today I wanted to do
Stephanie’s challenge at the Studio Calico blog. Keep it simple and graphic. Should be a breeze for me, right? Well, I blew it. Big time.
I decided to lift Stephanie’s layout - I always love them. But I did not love what I made:

Sure, it’s nice and all that, but it seems incomplete, and not like something I’d make today. I’ve tried to perfect my style lately, adding more layers and just going with it. It. That flow. That je ne sais quoi. That something that makes layouts pop.
I think I succeeded more with the next layout I made today:
It started out with this sketch that I quickly jotted down, but turned into something very different when I had printed all the photos and and found the products that I wanted to use.
I finally used that gorgeous AC Dear Lizzy-paper from Studio Calico’s February kit. I’ve saved it for two months now, thinking I’d use it for a self-portrait or something (in b/w), but while “perfecting my style”, I’ve tried to just-use-those-papers-godsdammit!!!
I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels like what they make isn’t always their best work? Tell me your stories/experiences in a comment, why don’t you? I’d love to hear them!
