Today I want to share a layout I made yesterday as part of a challenge over at the Studio Calico message board. The challenge was to lift a layout from the person over you. I picked
NinaSt and her wonderful layout called
Photobooth.

I chose the layout because of the embellishment clustering and layers. This is something I need to practice!

As you can see, I chose a very different color combination than Nina’s original and while she used photos of the same image, I used several. What’s the same is the placing the different elements - the photos, the strips of paper and the embellishments and title. And that’s how you can be inspired by other people’s pages, and still make it yours, even though you lift.
While I made this layout, my husband was asleep. Even though it was only afternoon (app. 5pm), he was sound asleep in bed, having come down with what we assume is the flu. I found a sick husband in bed when I came home from work, and when I put my hand on him, it was obvious that he was sporting a fever. I confirmed his illness by taking his temperature, but also by how wet the bedding was. Off it went!
I’m not too good myself, but I always feel well enough to go to work in the morning, and so I do - and thus feel poorly in the afternoons and evenings.
Yesterday was his birthday, and the time we had planned to spend making a cake and a small celebration, was spent waking him hourly to make sure he wasn’t getting too hot, bringing him more paracetamol and make sure he drank water. Not the best of birthdays, if you know what I mean.
