They both ignored it, or rather Miranda chose to ignore it, while Andy wanted to but was ready to embrace it if Miranda gave her an inkling that she would as well. The stare, when their eyes met after Miranda avoiding Andy’s eyes throughout the whole session was their moment. The second Andy stepped forward ended it, and I felt saddened because that moment ended and Miranda broke the spell by moving back into her comfort zone, where she was safe. Andy was willing to jump out there, unsure about the results, but Miranda wasn’t. That for some reason surprises me, while at the same time it doesn’t. (shrug) The rest of their encounters were good, but paled in comparison for that moment in the morning, to me at least. Which is surprising because I thought their encounter when Andy finds out about the divorce and realizes she’s in love would have been it, but it wasn’t. The description of Miranda’s eyes and how she snapped up to look at Andy and then stepped back, and almost knocked over that lamp was my favorite part of this chapter, its what captivated me until the end when you left me smiling brightly with her last line.

I was surprised that you followed the movie and actually had Andy sleep with Christian, but was glad to see that Andy realized she’d drop him and countless others for Miranda because she was in love. I look forward to reading the last part of this story. And hope to see you coming back with many more stories for this fandom. (smile)

Thanks! I like the bit where she knocks into the table, too. Something about the unruffled Miranda Priestly becoming something of a clutz around her twue love just makes me giggle.

And yes, the bit with Christian was definitely hard to write (because, ew) but I felt that ultimately, it was something she had to do. random_flores made a comment to me once about how it was weird that both Andy and Miranda were often just suddenly gay in fanfic (poof! like that), so I wanted to leave it sort of open-ended: Andy could still be bisexual, but she's just all about Miranda now.

And as an interesting (to me, anyway) side note: I had actually originally intended to leave this section as the ending of the story - sort of bittersweet, with a hint of something to come... but then I decided it was a cop out, and overly ambiguous. Plus I wanted to see what Andy would do with her newfound hold on life. (And frankly, I just wanted them to make out).
