I really do love working for Target. I really do hate the shitty pay and unpredictable hours. I really do want to move into a bigger place and actually have money to do things I want with. I really do want to marry Pete within the next two years like we planned. I really do hope I get the job at Consumer's Energy...

I had a testing session for them on Tuesday. First part of the test was basic grammer and math based questions. If you passed that you were allowed to take the second test, which was a long personality type test with some basic cashiering and math questions. They will be grading those and calling those who pass within a week for a phone interview. If you pass the phone interview you are then scheduled for a typing test, computer knowledge test and face-to-face interview. They will be taking 12-14 CSR1 (Customer Service Representative level 1) employees in, from the 40 or so who were at the initial testing. I really (to infinity) want this job. Starting pay is 10.64/hr, with $1/hr premium for working weekends (that means Saturday since the Grand Rapids call center is not open on Sunday) and evenings (which starts at 6pm, but the call center's only open til 7pm). And, get this, you get $2/hr premium if you are billingual. I don't know how I feel about that. You are basically paying some employees extra just because they are Spanish (I doubt many of the billingual employees went to school to learn Spanish just to become a billingual employee somewhere, so I am assuming a very good percentage of them are Spanish born employees) In some small way it seems a bit unfair to me, a typical honky who speaks no Spanish, but whatever. (I mean no offence by this, but I see it as a person making extra wages who isn't really putting in a big effort to do so, it's just a natural thing for them) There is an inital 6 week paid training program, starting May 12th and a 90-day probationary period (in which the 6 weeks is included) During the training we will be required to take weekly or bi-weekly tests in which we must score at least 80% to continue. It's not that bad, some tests can be taken twice and most are open-book in that we can use whatever resources we have, including the computer, to complete the test. After the 90 day probation is over you get your benefits package. Company paid benefits, fuck yes!! Right now I pay for my benefits from my paycheck, blech. Pension and 401k plans (you are never too young, or old, to worry about these things). Hopefully I will be able to easily roll over my Target 401k to theirs (I know shit about how to do that). After a year you get THREE WEEKS paid vacation for full time (which I will be) and 1 week for part time. Most companies won't offer shit to part time employees, but they get the same benefits as full time, except less vacation time. I also found out during the testing that the call center is walking distance from me, that's just icing on the cake. I'm all like, fucking want this job, want want, mother-fucking want.

want job, consumer's energy
