On with the show, this is it... Yowza...
This Thursday the run of Addition begins. Two days, people, TWO DAYS! Well, three days, technically, because our opening happens at eightish... So... Two sleeps? Regardless, it's kind of a big deal. ^_^
I'm always taken aback at how it feels when a show is about to actually go up, the kind of odd sensation of a long period of time summed up as a foot note for the actual act itself. It almost reminds me of your first time having sex, really. You spend all this time fretting, planning, fantasizing, idealizing and then it happens and it's over much more quickly than you had fretted, planned, fantasized or idealized it would be.
Though, personally, every show I've been in has been much more satisfying than losing my virginity.
This is the pay off for all my work, and here it comes, guns a-blazin', and I'm quite pleased at my progress, but still need that little bit extra. My biggest fear? Fringe technicians are, I have learned, RUTHLESS in their efficiency. As in, we have a time schedule to keep, the people in this show might be seeing other shows, we WILL just turn on the lights mid performance if you're over time. Coupled with the fact that we gave a time that is now... unnervingly close, I guess is the best way to put it, to what we're actually running. We may need to do the last few bits in the parking lot, if it comes to it. ^_^
Excitement, though. Thrills and chills and a touch of DANGER! Not in the show, mind, in the putting it up. The show itself is... well, a comedy, but the cast and crew have gone everything so often it's losing the humour for us. That is, it had until Saturday and Sunday. Sneak previews are not only good to get some buzz going externally, but the internal reminder that... "HEY! Your show is funny!" is a great spirit boost as well.
Spirit boost! ^_^
Tonight, the final rehearsal, tomorrow, the beginning of something glorious.
And oh what heights we'll hit! On with the show, this is it!
