So if I've got this right ...
The Grand Unified Theorem of Will Schuester Is The Greatest and Bestest and Teacheriest Teacher goes as follows:
1. Will Schuester is the best teacher alive.
2. EVEN IF he repeatedly ignores his students' wishes and refuses to optimize their talents. He only does this because it's good for them! For instance, letting Mike C and Brittany dance a solo or Puck sing a watered-down version of "Fuck You" would lead to confusion, anarchy, and loose morals?
3. THEREFORE, Will Schuester's teaching priorities are always right!
4. Like when he was more concerned about a group of his students thinking uncharitable thoughts about a coach than he was about one of his students being physically, verbally, and now sexually bullied.
5. BECAUSE dude, cheer up, Kurt!
6. ALSO, if another teacher or adult figure comes into glee and seems more fun than the Schue, they probably have crippling neuroses that make them unfit stewards for children. (April Rhodes, Holly Holiday, there's probably a few more in here.)
Seriously, this boggles my mind! I would be willing to see the Schue as a believably flawed character. He actually reminds me a lot of my old dance coach. But somehow, he never seems to rrrreally reap the IC consequences for not listening to his kids. Like ... any of them being disgruntled/unhappy/remembering that he doesn't listen to them for more than an episode. There was a lot of talk about the "consequences" of Holiday's actions, but I kind of fail to see what they were. She ... tried to help glee make a setlist they actually liked? And she has commitment issues? Like, I get that as a teacher she was totally inappropriate, but I didn't like that she was basically a foil to make the Schue look good.
.... Am I still mad about the "Kurt, you're letting it get to you" scene? Oh hell yes.
