Arguably, I shoooould be doing laundry. But I like memes better!
Comment, and I'll give you five words I associate with you. I got mine from
wanderlustlover because she's awesome like that!
1. dancer
I get this one a lot. (I WONDER WHY.) But it's funny because I don't feel like a dancer, per se. I may describe myself as one, but then I feel pretentious. Sort of like when I describe myself as a writer, come to think of it ...
But for better or worse, I am a competitive ballroom dancer, and I do have a job this summer at a small studio doing what amounts essentially to babysitting. I find pretty much everything about dance fun: Social dance is fun, and learning technique is fun, and teaching is fun-- I was even surprised this semester to learn that I find competition fun! That seems like a good sign.
2. poet
This one might make more sense. Poetry is sort of the language of my cluttered mind, y'all. I find that nearly everything I write in terms of poetry comes from freewrites, which are basically uncensored mental dumps. This may or may not be for the best.
Actually, I'm in the process of revising a lot of my poetry from the past howevermany years (five?) to submit them for publishing ... somewhere. It's a really interesting thing to be doing, and, uh ... the upshot is I haaaate so much of what I've written. Anybody with general observations or suggestions about stuff I've written/the process of mass revisions is please to share your insights with me.
3. curious
This is true! I am very curious about people, mostly because I think I'm naturally introspective (the polite word for "self-absorbed," in my case). I've sort of half-trained myself to look at people on the street or on the bus and go, "Where are they coming from? Where are they going? Why do they look the way they do? Why are they carrying what they're carrying? Do I have any racial stereotypes about them, and if so, are there any ways I can empathize with this person and get past them?" I don't know if that's good, annoying, useless, whatever. I guess also I am curious about other things, like ideas, but I also combine that with laziness because it is summer. >.>
4. blunt
Ahahahahaha. I find this hilarious. No matter how far I think I've come in terms of being diplomatic, I still apparently am supremely blunt. I think Aaron really said this best: "Merc, it's not that you can't be diplomatic. You just usually don't think it's important." I will admit, if I witness or read something and I have an opinion (which is ALWAYS), I do sometimes feel almost a physical irritation until I can voice it in some way. As in: WHY DID YOU WRITE THAT THING YOU WROTE, THUS REQUIRING ME TO TELL YOU HOW I FEEL ABOUT IT??? MERC SMASH.
5. want
I do yearn for a lot of things.
And. You know.
People.
And, because I like symmetry, the five words meme is followed by five songs that you all REALLY SHOULD STEAL.
Fever - Sophie MilmanEli, Eli La Walk to Caesarea - Sophie Milman Don't Stop Believin' - Glee CastRehab - Glee Cast Hey Pachuco - Royal Crown Revue (You might recognize this from Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz's dance scene in The Mask. "HEY! PACHUCO!" My dance partner and I are thinking of doing a solo to at least a part of it.)
Perfect Gentleman - Wyclef Jean (OH MY GOD DOWNLOAD THIS SONG. Not only does it feature the immortal line just 'cause she dances go-go, it don't make her a ho, no, but when the stripper gets to say her piece, she sounds HILARIOUSLY ANGRY. Worth it worth it worth it.)
