get a grip...
I had a minor giggle fit in a meeting yesterday morning that accompanied a minor epiphany about human interaction... We were in meeting with this dude D. who is basically the IT head of my company's project to migrate web platforms. I've worked with him quite a bit on various related projects, i.e. our sucky survey platform, so he knows me fairly well. I was seated next to C. and we were all discussing the impending migration activities (they're estimating 75 hours of work for program. I manage two programs so there are 150 hours of work coming down the pipeline for me, but that's another story), when C. brought up the possibility of offering assistance to the team that is scheduled to launch the new site on Sept 4, because, well, right now they're all working till midnight every day.
After a fairly in-depth discussion on the topic wherein C. was her usual awesome self, offering intelligent solutions to the problem and blah blah blah; the consensus we came to at the end of the discussion was that we would implement her plan to help out the other team. Upon which D. suddenly turns to me and says: "Thank you for bringing that up."
Which I totally didn't.
I was a little surprised, and before I could even respond, C. turned to me and nodded her head strongly in faux approval, because, well, she brought it up and she knows it.
And then I started to giggle in that sort of breathy, maybe they'll think i'm coughing manner. Then D. asked me if anything was wrong, and I said not to pay me any mind.
Thankfully C. and I aren't competitive towards one another; but i just thought it interesting that in this dude's mind, I may as well have brought up the topic, simply because I've brought other topics up before. It's just interesting to see the fact that people will attribute things/actions to you based on their perception of you, and not actual reality, in action.
That and we got the posters they created to boost our morale for all the hard work we're doing. I'm waaay in the back making a really goofy face that I didn't know I even made. Sweet.
