A shocker, I know!
A few months back (like ten), the idiotsguys at the shop voted in a union. Laborers Local 773, to be precise.
Because of this, we didn't get any kind of a raise for just under two years (we'd had one just after the shop was bought out by our new owners, and were due just around the time of the union vote). I won't even go into the bad blood this created among everyone at the shop. It was ugly as hell. All the people who voted no kept insisting that the union wasn't going to do anythign for us, that all they wanted was a yes vote, etc etc etc
We were ignored, the union was voted in and we spent about ten months unable to hire, fire, or get a raise.
Well, you'll never guess what happened!
Oh, yes you will.
Guess who got voted out last week? The union. For not doing anything, just like we'd predicted. (Well, they didn't get voted out, they dropped their claim once we sent them a petition signed by everyone in the shop statign we wanted them gone, but close enough.)
Guess who immediately went to work on getting us evaluations/raises? The company.
Guess who's gloating?
Yeah, that's all me, baby.
...'course, I'm also the one applying to another job, on the off chance that I'll get it. Nuclear welder, baby! WHOOOO! (Probably not, but I still want it.)
