Playing this far (okay, I only hit dlevel 42, but it's probably the furthest down that I've ever been) has given me some thoughts for IvanCrawlHackBand.
-Tweak monster difficulties, and maybe reduce the numbers of monsters that appear in mobs. Usually they're just annoying, rather than difficult.
-Angband seems to be a game of collecting resistances at the moment. In this game, I didn't realise I didn't have darkness resist ('Evenstar' gives darkness resist - ironically, it was the quest reward for killing a bunch of Greater Basilisks, which are darkness users) for a long time. Having a resistance makes some monsters trivial, and resistance + temporary resistance can even make "Ancient Dragons" fairly trivial.
-Uniques are about right. Some are a bit harder than you might expect, some dropped easily without much danger to myself.
-Summoning is a git. Especially when one summon spell summons 10 guys. (But I already knew that.)
-NPPAngband actually has a use for large amounts of gold. Which is good.
-For the love of (insert something lovable here), easy_choose_to_not_pick_up is going in. And autosquelch would be nice. EyAngband has both of these, I think.
-The 'stat gain' phase of Angband is weird. I think it's the furthest into it that I've been so far. Gaining ~50 max SP because my Int went up is... interesting. I prefer the IVAN way of stats going up when you use them.
-Definitely going to eventually get rid of the "D&D" stats.
-Liked the "random uniques". They are fairly tough though. Tougher than the "standard" uniques.
-Most spells don't do enough damage. Or maybe I didn't have the SP to cast them repeatedly.
