Well, here we are at the last day of 2008. And what a year it was. This was the year I took a break for myself and sat down to figure things out; school, job, me, all that jazz. I suppose I should do a year in review thing.
January:
I opened it up as the year of Indiana Jones. (I was right.)
I saw I am Legend and started paying attention to zombie movies. (And, more importantly, strategy.)
I make a promise to 2095.
I go to Hawaii for the semester, at the University of Chaminade.
Heath Ledger dies, and it's totally surreal because I don't follow his career at all, yet I am upset. Maybe I'm just psychic about how much I would appreciate his acting by the end of the year?
February:
I am reminded it's been four years since Disney (and I haven't written a thing), and I start counting down to counting down to Indy IV.
Google refuses to find Chuck Norris.
I put down a lot of my beliefs on paper, and though they haven't really changed, how I've looked at them over the course of a year has. But that's what I was looking for. I also decide I can't be as mellow anymore, because it's sacrificing my personality.
The Internet trolls Scientology, and I start the countdown.
I am caught in an alcohol incident with roommates I don't really know.
I see the IJ4 trailer with Jumper.
I get a new icon as well as a piece of the hats from Indy IV.
I decide to buy a HJ, and realize I will be upset if there are aliens. Trust me, I'm still upset.
My blog is rated NC-17, and I'm sure it's only gotten worse from there!
I went snorkeling in Hanauma Bay.
The Best Day Ever happens.
March:
I go to Chinatown, and Laura has an incident at school.
I saw a guy get hit by a car while he was on his moped.
I went shark diving and jumped off a cliff.
I almost passed out in ceramics.
I went surfing.
Had adventures with the family.
I went ziplining where Tropic Thunder was filmed.
April:
I gave blood.
Experienced vog.
Saw a Chinese Lion dance.
Went to Maui.
May:
Rode on the Hokule'a.
Geeked out over Iron Man.
Saw Indy IV!
June:
Had trivia nights.
Went to the OBX.
Mrs. Minge's cancer comes back for a third time.
July:
Saw Dark Knight. Had mind blown.
Saw my friend drop his life to run away from home and start dropping acid.
Went to Carroll's band camp.
August:
Liveposted DCI finals weekend.
Saw Tropic Thunder.
Celebrated my last year as a teenager and turned 20.
September:
Had a power-out part across campus.
Mr. McGarvey, who is like another Grandpa to Laura and I (he's our only first cousin's other grandpa) dies from a head injury.
October:
Celebrated the return of Pushing Daisies.
Played an epic game of capture the flag.
The Parrotheadmobile dies, and I get a new car.
Fought to save PD.
I dress up like the Joker for Halloween.
November:
I vote! America gains a president-elect and makes history.
Saw Quantum of Solace.
Dad gets a facebook, succumbs quickly.
I host my own Star Wars (/Star Trek) Holiday Special, for Thanksgiving.
NYC gets rickrolled.
I lost my blue opal from Nana (and moving all my stuff I realized, I think I may have lost my old white one, too). :C
December:
Lara finds my LJ.
Dr. Taylor gets ripped a new one.
We get wind of some high school drama that causes a flurry amongst pretty much all of my high school social circles.
I get a one on my playing audition!
We move.
Yay Christmas! We all get lots of really cool things (and I still owe James his tattoo design). But nothing Indy...?! (Haha, I still find that weird.) Oh, and I get sick on Christmas.
So later I can write about what I want for 2009. I grew in 2008, a lot. 2008 had a lot of downs, but a lot of adventure... And most importantly, I feel like I know who I am. (I spent too much money but I was indulging to relax as well as for Indiana Jones stuff; I'm not sorry but I will have to start watching my budget more.) I've kind of turned into a little bit of a jerk but I've caught it and I want to work on it for next year; and just within the past week or so I've finally been able to let some things go. I didn't write about them at all yet, but I can finally let go of one weight and forgive someone else.
It feels really good to start a new year that way.
Yeah, sorry, no Christmas stuff (again), I'm running out of time!
HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE! May 2009 be everything you want it to be, and more.
