I get to be myself and I get to sing
I am just freakin' obsessed with that Belle & Sebastian song. Crazy.
And last night was, well, wonderful. The show was fantastic and fun, my mother and I went (which was pretty perfect), and the Huysers showed up! Very cool. Had some good conversations with people there, and it just felt good to be an artist.
However, of course, there are a million things I'll do differently for next time. Sigh. I already have a lot of ideas for the next photo--what Tim said is so true, that as artists, we're always onto the next project.
My mother is an artist, plain and simple. I don't know why I never saw it before. I'm going to give her a camera for her birthday.
After my show, mom and I took a leisurely drive back on Blue Star Highway and stopped in for the end of the Artists Critique, and there couldn't have been a better way to end the evening: beautiful artwork, talkin' shop with a fabulous photographer (holy shit his work is amazing), "new" friends (really, the amount of connections with the Halls is quite ridiculous, but it also kinda makes sense that I wouldn't get to know them until now), teaching Mel the chords so we could sing "Born" together, dancing to Diana Krall...
...bliss.
