This is excellent; it seems true to the characters, sad but hopeful. It's made a lovely start to my day, thank you.

Thanks - it started out a little more hopeful than it ended up, but I wanted to at least start the healing process.

I shouldn't read so much angst so early in the day. But this was very well-written, perfectly in character. Poor old Wilson.

Sorry :) It turned out way more angsty than I'd intended it to be, but I just couldn't believe in a happy ending - at least not yet.

Thanks for reading!

oh see this is House and Wilson, in all their fucked-up crash and burn glory. Sometimes love is not enough. In fact, love alone is never enough.

Powerful and brilliant, absolutely loved it.

Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it. There's so much to work with in their "stupid, screwed-up friendship." Love's definitely not enough, which I suspect is a lesson Wilson needs to learn a bit better, but at least it's a place to start.

Oh, Mer -- how I wish you wrote for the show. What a great missing scene: although they both recognize the impasse in which they find themselves, each got to listen a little to the perspective of the other, and hopefully that will be enough of a talisman to ward off a tragedy.

And last week's Wagner marathon was pretty special! This is a lovely commemoration.

Thanks - I'm glad it worked as a missing scene. I wrote about half of it before Tuesday's episode and then had to rewrite and shift direction, because I wanted to explore how they got from House stalking out of Wilson's office to pretending that thing were back to normal. I'm sure the writers have some kind of resolution planned for the future - and it makes sense that it wouldn't just happen overnight.

Loved the Wagner marathon - though perhaps moreso the programming around it than the full performances. I actually prefer Parsifal and Tristan und Isolde, but I do have a fondness for the Funeral March. Like Wilson, I got caught up on paperwork during Gotterdammerung, much to the dismay of anybody who walked past my office during the high points...

Wow.

This is crushing, but it's also really, really good.

House stuck out his cane to stop him, whacking him on the shins for good measure.

I love that. It's so House -- might as well get the whack in, while you can, just on principle.

House deliberately looked down at the cane. "Too late." He pushed himself upright, hating how much effort it took. The memory of movement seared through muscles that could no longer obey.

Ow. Oh, God, this is so much worse than before the ketamine temporarily cured him, you know?

Anyway. Lovely stuff. Thank you.

Thank you!

It must be devastating for House to have had that glimmer of hope and then to have it snatched away. No wonder he doesn't want to talk about it. I wouldn't be able to discuss it without screaming.
