Once a month Finnkino has special day when all the movie tickets are 5e. And today was that day. I wanted to go see some movie and I chose.. Sweeney Todd!
I had some expectations because I had heard from different sources both good and bad things about it.
"Tim Burton didn't do his best."
"It has too much music."
"Only for true Burton fans."
etc.
Well, of course it has lots of music. It's musical! Musical without music ain't musical. Or musical ain't musical with just one or two songs.
But I really loved the movie. It was something so beautiful. And it did earn the Oscar of "Best Achievement in Art Direction".
About characters. I really liked Sweeney. And Depp did the role very well. He should have won the "Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role" Oscar.Mrs. Lovett played by Helena Bonham-Carter. I loved her. She was so lovely cute weird person. <3 Sacha Baron Cohen was hilarious as Signor Pirelli. I laughed a lot every time he made his appearance. That sailor and Johanna were nice add. Professor Sn.. I mean Alan Rickman was very good in his role. And Wormta.. I mean Timothy Spall. So perfect, so perfect.
I have 3 favorite scenes in the movie. "The Worst Pies in London", "Johanna" and "Epiphany". Epiphany must be my favorite. I love to see Johnny as maniac. <3 Then comes that pie scene where Sweeney goes to Mrs. Lovett's place and gets pie. And then Johanna.
Everything in movie was really well done and I don't have nothing bad to say about it. All I can say, is that if you combine Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and maybe Helena Bonham-Carter too, the result can't be bad.
