Well here's some news I can post about: I'm moving to Atlanta (from Boston) in a few weeks. I guess about the middle of September. I bought another house and will be selling the one I have now. Got a good deal, it's next door to my sister, and I will now have an automatic built-in pet sitter. (She will too, from me.) Also my sister has a dog ( Read more... )

Definitely going, and sounds like I'll be doing pics again. They're kinda flakey, but I did get the standard volunteer email and responded to it. Hope that's good enough. =)

Prolly going to buy myself a new wide lens before I go down, but if I do invest, I'll pretty much be confining myself to my Sony gear forever. A switch to Nikon is tempting, though.

Ohhh, it's so hard to change! But it's true, the more you buy the harder it gets, so sometimes it's better to do it sooner than later. Unless you can rent a WA for a decent price? And then switch later, if you still want to.

That's the biggest reason for switching -- Sony lenses are impossible to find for rental. One place in Toronto has 2 Sony lenses. And NOBODY has them for rental in NYC. If you're not Canon/Nikon, you're screwed. I was really scared when I had to shoot from the board for Just For Laughs a few weeks ago (I dunno if you saw my post on the Flickr group), and almost BOUGHT a 300mm for that (which i would've never used again).

It is definitely easier to get equipment for Canon/Nikon--renting, buying new, finding used. There's just more of it and more people using it.

Board shoots are tough; I did Bruce Springsteen and only had a 200mm and it was a little short. Could have used even another 50mm. But I had what I had, didn't want to lug anything more around.

I didn't see the Flickr post, will check your stream though!
