Hermit Angst

As a proud introvert, STOP TRYING TO CONVERT ME INTO BEING AN EXTROVERT! If you're an extrovert, that's fine, but I'm sick and tired of people assuming that I'm going to evolve into some social butterfly or "life of the party" type if they take me under their wing of social guidance. Frankly, that kind of attitude gets really condescending after a while. This especially applies to people who insist that I would be a huge people person under different circumstances. How do you know this? And why do you think YOU could fix this? I get this attitude particularly when I tell people that I'm looking for new friends. No, this does not mean I'm desperately searching for any kind of social contact. It means I'm looking for kindred spirits to share a good conversation or time with. And while I crave social contact with select people, I'm a freaking hermit most of time, and I don't mind this. So, while your intent to help me out in the social realm may be well meaning, it drives me freaking insane!
