Well, this time promoting single parents, 'cause God knows a lot of them (particularly IRL ones) deserves some kudos. On to the first stop on our list, in other words.
1.Henry and Indiana Jones (Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade)
I love their witty bantering, the way the father-son relation is illustrated and even the backstory about the kinda 'poor but not tragic' childhood of Indy. In a way, I think the reason to my liking is that it seems slightly more conditional than other parent-child relations in fiction (not that 'conditional' equals 'ideal'), and thus makes it more interesting to watch their interaction - it takes some time before you get to see that Henry Jones actually cares about his son more than one'd think at the first glance.

2.Damas and Jak (Jak 3)
The story of Damas and his heir is quite moving for being a videogame. It's kinda frustrating, that he never got to know Jak was his son, but I also think it added extra strenght to the overall storyline of Jak 3 and thus made it more powerful than if he'd died entirely happy and sure that he had found his son again. It made the story more memorable, simply.

3.Donna and Sophie (Mamma Mia)
Really, when they started singing 'Slipping through my fingers'' it was difficult to hold back the tears. Perhaps their life doesn't have quite as 'fancy' or interesting/exciting/adventurous context as the other duos mentioned on this list, but instead it has the weight and strenght of being very realistic and easy to identify with - there are many single moms (and dads) out there who have to work hard every day, and even though the movie doesn't show off exactly how difficult it can be at times it still manages to be moving beyond what one would expect.

4. Keith and Veronica Mars (Veronica Mars)
A very wellwritten father-daughter relation IMO. What I like about Veronica's father is that he lets he be involved in his work and helps her out when he can, rather than keeping her out of it because he still thinks of her as ''daddy's little girl'' all the time- he lets her be grownup and independent, but is still ready to be her father and support her when it's necessary. And Veronica is simply one of the coolest female television characters I know.

5. Niki and Micah (Heroes)
In the first season, when I didn't really like Niki, Micah was the one who kept me from dissing her since I figured that, after all, she was his mom and their relation was cute. Plus that in aa way, the scene where she smacks Sylar with a parking meter was fun. In the second season, when I of some reason begun to like Niki more, she and Micah became one of my favourite parent-child relations in ficion.

...Honourary mention goes to The Boss (Joy) and her son Ocelot from the Metal Gear Solid games (it's been a very long time since I played those games, so sorry if I got some name or fact wrong). She may not have been able to be there for him as much, but at the other hand the complexity and difficulties in their relation makes it all the better.
That's all, folks.
