These are my fandoms. I realized just how much angst and ridiculousness is mixed up in them when I was RPing as post-wizarding war Lee Jordan from Harry Potter.

I know the plot-line of that particular roleplay--that Hogwarts has been rebuilt and students are allowed to come back for an 8th year option--means the Lee I'm RPing is in probably worse shape than he would be in the actual world post-books. It wouldn't be easy to return to the place where you fought for your life, former home, friends, and family and  lost one of your best friends.

Writing angst can be draining so I've been putting Lee in some silly situations to lighten the mood involving an original character I created named Cynthia. She is a 2nd year Gryffindor girl who is very enthusiastic and hero-worships him for taking part in The Battle of Hogwarts. She sees him as her knight in shining armor and she just wants to help. Unfortunately, this help involves things like trying to braid his hair...

Lee even ends up having meta-feelings about his feelings once I realized the pattern of the stories I've writing. I thought it was interesting. It's a see-saw between moments of hilarity and angst within not just that role play, but in life.

Life is made up of a multitude of emotions. Life is complex. It's ugly and beautiful,it's joy and sorrow, demons and angels, it's full of love and full of pain, and while I don't want to oversimplify what life is...

The fandoms I listed above can handle both the dramatic and comedic parts of the universe they are set in and reflect a bit of life's complexity. And this is why I enjoy them. :D
