Help with recovering unfinalized 3gp video!

Okay!

So, Stefon had the brilliant idea to video tape the first visit from the home health RN to teach her how to use drain the fluid in her lung lining with the PleurX catheter and the dressing change.

All went well until my mom's friend Barb wanted to help by plugging my phone into an extension cord.  I had moved close and was on battery because the power cable is very short.

When she plugged it into the wall, the video program on the phone crashed and the video recording ended.  I restarted it, but after we were all done, I went to look and while that video clip is a good size, it's unreadable.

Is there a way to (a) find out details about what DID get saved and (b) a way to recover the recording?  It contained the whole portion where the RN showed us how to open and attach the drainage kit as well as how to control the rate of drainage.

EDIT:  it seems that I need to fix the headers - when running an analyzer program, it only knew the filesize, whereas when the information from the healthy video clip gave me all sorts of good stuff.

The catch:  I have to use a hex editor and opening it in a hex editor just gives me gobbledegook.  Help!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Cheers,
-M
